Gators Lose Tight Game 3-0 to Southern Maine

Chestnut Hill, MA – The Pine Manor Gators dropped a 3-0 decision at home on Tuesday to Southern Maine University.

The Huskies (6-11) struck first in the 22nd minute when Hana McNally scored unassisted to put Southern Maine up 1-0. The Gators struggled to get anything going on the attack; but were able to hold Southern Maine at bay for the remainder of the half and the teams went to the break with the score remaining 1-0.

The game would remain tight in the second half with neither team generating much on the offensive end. The Gators wouldn't put a shot on goal in the second half; but with two minutes remaining the Huskies still clung to the slimmest of margins.

The Huskies would score twice however in the final two minutes of the game. The Gators opened things up trying to get the equalizer; but the Huskies Alexa Cicolini spoiled that by getting a shot past Gators goalkeeper Jesta Gilmore with 1:58 remaining on the clock.

The Huskies would then tack on another in the final minute for the 3-0 victory.

Taylor Canastra picked up the victory for the Huskies and Gilmore took the loss making two saves.

Cassie Cavender and Karina Naranjo led the Gators attack with a shot on goal apiece.

Pine Manor (5-7) wraps up the season on Tuesday at Fisher College at 4:00pm.
