Gators Defeat Saints In OT for Fifth Straight Win

For the second straight game and the third time in four matches, Pine Manor College (5-1-1) notched an overtime victory this time on the road against Emmanuel College (2-3), 2-1.

The win was the most impressive to date on the young season for the Gators, who played for 70 minutes down a player after Raudel Gomez (Eagle Pass, TX/Eagle Pass) took a red card in the 23rd minute.

Trailing 1-0 after an early goal from Emmanuel Alec Erskine, Pine Manor tied the game when Elmer Pineda's (Santa Rosa, CA/Piner) cross landed at Oscar Uriel Roque's (Santa Rosa, CA/Montgomery) feet and he was able to tuck it past Emmanuel goalkeeper Vincent Conelli, 1-1.

Both teams had great opportunities to score the game-winner in regulation. Andree Hernandez's curler early in the second half seemed destined to score before hitting the right upper-90 of the crossbar. Emmanuel would also squarely hit the crossbar with under five minutes to play after an inch-perfect cross found the head of their striker.

Ultimately the Gators would prevail on one of the most exciting and skillful goals of the year. After a brief scramble in the box, Pineda was able to get to the ball first. His scuffed shot went perfectly to the pathway of Roque, and the freshman striker came up with an incredible bit of skill back-heeling the ball on his first touch into the far-side side netting for another overtime winner, 2-1.

The win was the Gators' fifth straight of the year tying a program record for most consecutive wins.
