Gators Get Fifth Win of the Season

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Pine Manor men's basketball team led nearly wire-to-wire as it earned its fifth win of the season, knocking off Fisher, 71-54 on Saturday afternoon at Brunelli Court in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

The Gators run their record to 5-13, while Fisher falls to 7-14.

  • Sophomore Sayvonn Houston (Brockton, Mass.) lead all scorers with 19 points coming off the bench for the Gators.
  • Senior Ellis Reid (Hartford, Conn.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Junior Shaun Miller (Hyde Park, Mass.) and senior Rasheed Bell (Dorchester, Mass.) were the only two other PMC student-athletes in double-figures. Miller dropped 17 points, while Bell had 11.
  • Junior point guard Steven Collins (Lynn, Mass.) had a game-high eight assists.

  • Juniors Jhalen  Lumpkins (Sacramento, Calif.) and Ville Milan (Turku, Finland) each scored 13 points off the bench to lead the team.
  • Lumpkins also had 10 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Senior Kyle Snowden (Santa Cruz, Calif.) had a team-leading four assists.

The Gators opened the game with a 10-4 run capped off by a three-pointer from Bell at the five-minute mark of the contest.

Fisher was able to chip away at the lead and finally overtake the hosts about halfway through the first stanza as a Lumpkins layup gave the Falcons a 13-12 lead. However, this would be the only lead the guests would have the entire afternoon.

Pine Manor got the lead right back with a three-ball from Jamel Hamans (Meriden, Conn.), followed by a 13-2 run over the next five minutes. PMC went into the break leading 33-26.

After the break, Fisher tried to work its way back into the game closing the gap to two at 38-36 as a result of an Anthony Lewis (Lodi, Calif.) layup.

However, the Gators refused to relent. Houston scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half and three-pointers from Shaun Miller (Hyde Park, Mass.), Jalen Bruce, and Bell put the game out of reach.

Pine Manor is back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 29 as it hosts Anna Maria at 6 p.m.
