WENHAM, Mass.— Pine Manor College women's cross country competed at the annual Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College on Saturday morning. The Gators finished eleventh out of twelve teams in the team competition with an overall score of 319.
Maria Vaughan (Okinawa, Japan), pictured, was the top finisher for PMC, placing 42nd with an individual time of 23:05.
The University of New England took home the team crowns in both the men's and women's events. Gordon's Damon Kilgore (Londonderry, N.H.) took home the men's individual title, while Lexie Basillere (Kingston, N.H.) and Angel Waters (Limerick, Maine), both of the University of New England, each finished the 5K race in 19:56 to tie for the women's title.
Pine Manor's Cadejia Matthews-Austin (Boston, Mass.) was the next Gator to cross the finish line after Vaughan, placing 113 with a time of 28:26. Mayuka Watanabe (Osaka, Japan) was the next fastest Gator at 28:38, she was followed by Ryui Chen (30:44) and Chaniyah Swan (Jersey City, N.J.) who finished at 30:44 and 30:57, respectively.
The Gators will host their next competition on Thursday, October 9, as PMC will welcome Daniel Webster, Mass. Maritime and Mount Ida to campus for the annual Pine Manor Invitational.
