EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Pine Manor evened their record on the young season at 1-1 after defeating Bay Path 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats opened the match strong and the Gators ended up dropping the first game 25-15. The Gators quickly righted the ship and won three straight games 26-24, 25-14 and 25-22 to take the match.
Junior middle hitter Lauren Vallee (Bristol, Conn.) finished with 17 kills and 21 digs hitting .250 for the match. Fellow junior right side hitter and newcomer Ashlee Connors (Springfield, Mass.) led her team in attack percentage with a solid. 318 adding nine kills for the Wildcats.
Freshman middle blocker Kendra Williams led all players with a sizzling .462 attack percentage with 7 kills. Freshman outside hitter Viyanni Johnson finished with a team high ten kills and three digs. Freshman libero Alexa Leon had 15 digs, while junior opposite hitter Rachel Julien added ten digs.
Ashley Whiteshield had seventeen assists to lead the Gators.
The Wildcats fall to 1-0, while Pine Manor is now 1-1. Bay Path travels to Mass. Maritime next Saturday, September 10th for a tri-match also facing Curry starting at 1:00 p.m. The Gators will look to move over .500 when they travel to Mt. Ida Tuesday night at 6:00pm.
