Nashua, N.H. –Trailing 24-21 in the second set, host Daniel Webster rallied to win the set, 27-25, en route to a 3-0 (25-13, 27-25 and 25-18) match victory over Pine Manor College women's volleyball on Tuesday evening at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.
The Eagles grabbed their first victory of the season to move to 1-6. Pine Manor drops to 2-7 on the year.
Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) paced Daniel Webster with six kills and five service aces, while Courtney Warrington (Canton, Tex.) picked up five kills and Ayohnny Guy-Scott (Claymont, Del.) and Sharline Polycarpe (Dorchester, Mass.) added four apiece. Sarah Durocher (Keene, N.H.) notched a career-high nine aces and dished out 13 assists while Maggie Belli (Miami, Fla.) pulled in 11 digs.
PMC senior Phalogne Pierre (Boston, Mass.) led the Gators with six kills and 11 digs while Susan Le (Lowell, Mass.) had five kills, three aces and 11 digs. Destiny Mann (Orlando, Fla.) chipped in with five kills and three aces. Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, Alaska) handed out 16 assists.
In set two, a kill from PMC first-year Mary Owen (Houston, Tex.) and an Eagle error pushed DWC to the brink at 24-21 but two Warrington kills and an Amanda Gendron (Mont Vernon, N.H.) ace pulled the Eagles even. Tied at 25, DWC pulled out the win behind a pair of PMC errors.
DWC trailed only once in the opening set and never trailed in the third to close out the victory.
Pine Manor will return home to host Becker on Thursday evening at Brunelli Court. Match time is 7:00 PM.
The Eagles will return to action on Friday and Saturday when they participate in the Granite State Challenge, a round-robin two-day tournament featuring Division III programs from around New Hampshire.
