Chestnut Hill, MA - Back and forth, back and forth, that's how Wednesday's game between the Gators and the Mass. Maritime Buccaneers went, and when it stopped Maritime had the final goal in a 4-3 loss for the Gators.
Emma McNally scored just three minutes into the game to put the Buccaneers up 1-0. The Gators Cassie Cavender scored the first of her two goals to tie the game at 1; a trend that would see the Gators fall behind 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 only to see them come back and tie it each time. Cavender came back early in the 2nd half with her second goal to knot the game at 2-2.
The Gators would find themselves down 3-2 late in the second half and once again rallied and Marcella Martinez came through in the 76th minute scoring an unassisted goal sending the game into overtime.
The Buccaneers however would once again go ahead on Stephanie Hunt's second goal of the game and this time it would hold up as the Gators couldn't get the equalizer.
Maritime outshot the Gators 10-2 in the first half; the Gators turned the tables in the second as they held a 5-1 edge in shots.
Mass Maritime is 5-7-1 and the Gators fall to 5-6.
