Cavender Nets Two as Gators Win 2nd Straight with 3-1 Win over Daniel Webster

Nashua, N.H. - Cassie Cavender added to her team lead in scoring with two goals for her 10th and 11th of the season guiding Pine Manor past host Daniel Webster, 3-1 in a closer-than-it-looks final Tuesday afternoon at Eagle Field.

Elizabeth Anderson added a single score for the Gators (5-3). Alexa Leon and Kayla Brown picked up assists.

DWC (0-8) netted its lone goal off the foot of Amanda Dargie (Melbourne, Fla.), who stole and errant goalkeeper clear and potted a 25-foot chip shot in the 45th to avert the shutout.

DWC nearly tied it by the slimmest of margins twice in the second half as rookieBailey Guinn beat the keeper and hit the top crossbar in both the 68th and 77th minutes while Dargie was later stoned from two yards in front in the 87th.

Anderson scored in the seventh minute and Cavendar followed in the 11th and 33rd for a 3-0 lead at the half.

PMC finished with a 25-9 total shots advantage (18-4 on goal). DWC netminder Stephanie Evans (Washington, Iowa) turned aside 15 shots while her Gator counterpart Charley Lutz made three saves.

DWC visits Regis Saturday for a NECC meeting at Noon. Pine Manor hosts Nichols on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
