Gators Offense Explodes in 6-1 Rout of Eagles

POULTNEY, Vt. – Cassie Cavender notched two goals and added two assists as Pine Manor College defeated Green Mountain College, 6-1, in non-league women's soccer action at Eagles Game Field on Sunday afternoon.

Pine Manor (4-3-0) got on the board in the 14th minute of play as Marcella Martinez and Cavender hooked up for a goal.
Cavender then made a nice move on a defender to clear herself for a shot which she converted past the Eagles' goalkeeper to make it 2-0 just over two minutes later.

Martinez recorded her second goal of the day when she found a gap in the defense and chested a corner kick from Karina Naranjo into the back of the net.

Cavender and Elizabeth Anderson assisted on each other's back-to-back goals to close out the first half scoring, sending the Gators into halftime with a 5-0 lead.

Ashley Whiteshield made the score 6-0 as she scored for the visitors in the 58th minute of play.

Green Mountain (0-8-1) came out of the second half with a much improved effort and its hard work paid off as it scored in the 73rd minute when Rachel Moore headed home a cross from Shanaya Earle after the ball bounced into a crowd of players.

Charley Lutz picked up the win in net for the Gators by making one save. Green Mountain's Tyah Culp registered 15 saves in the loss for the Eagles.
