New Haven, Conn. ? The Pine Manor College women's basketball team falls to 1-8 on the season on Saturday afternoon as the Albertus Magnus Falcons knocked off the Gators, 94-70, at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletics Center.
Aleah Lauti (Millbrae, CA) led all scorers on the day with 25 points adding 6 rebounds and 2 assist to her day. Kristen Harris (Boston, MA) and Arielle Harrell (Stickton, CA) both contributed to the scoring output for the Gators with 15 points and 10 points respectively. Harrell had 5 assists and pulled down 6 board to round out her performance.
Kristin Cunning was the top scorer for the Falcons with 20 points for the afternoon. Rah Rah Thompson added a double-double for the game winners with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Wanda Tajeda had 13 points while Jill Johnson and Andreah Orr contributed 12 apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kristin Cunning (Hoboken, NJ) got her game started quickly, scoring 11 points on 3 for 3 from the arch in the first 3:00 minutes of the game, springing Albertus to a 13-0 lead quickly. Harrell answered with a deep three to break up the pace of the falcons with 6:58 left in the first quarter. The Gators finished the half trailing 55-25 but managed to find the bottom of the net in the second half. The Gators outscored their opponent in both the third and fourth quarters with score lines of 25-34 and 20-15 respectively. Despite a strong second half the early lead proved to be too much to overcome with the game finishing 94-70 in favor of Albertus Magnus.
The Gators drop to 1-8 on the season while Albertus Magnus moves to 8-1.
Pine Manor will go into their mid-season break after this game, their next contest will be on Saturday January 5th at home against Pratt at 1:00.
