POULTNEY, Vt. – The competition was a bit lopsided as the Green Mountain College women's baskettball team fell to Pine Manor College, 82-43, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the Eagle Dome.
Pine Manor (2-11) jumped out to an early lead on the Eagles, thanks to the hot hand of Sybil Lynch hitting six of nine three-point attempts. 18 of her game-high 21 points came in the first half and powered the Gator offense to head into the half with a 54-22 lead over Green Mountain (0-10). Alexis Lee also chipped in with 9 first half points and 11 in all, while Khiyana Isaac and Taylor Martin posted 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Sherelle Jackson (Greenville, S.C.) looked for her shot a lot, trying to spark the Eagle offense, shooting 3-for-22 on field goals attempts for the game and ending with seven points. Keelin Banks (Wilmot, N.H.) tied for a team-best 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Mercedes Rideout (Chambersburg, Pa.) recorded a game-high and career-best rebounding performance with 11 caroms.
The Gators played tough defense for the full 40 minutes forcing Green Mountain to turn the ball over 26 times. Despite holding Pine Manor to 37% shooting from the field, The Eagles had trouble putting points on the board shooting and connecting on just 25% of their field goal attempts.
Green Mountain returns to North Atlantic Conference play this Thursday when it heads to New Hampshire to take on New England College at5:30 p.m.
Pine Manor returns to action Thursday as the host a double-header with the men's team as they take on College of St. Joseph with tip-off 4:00 PM
