Lady Gators Late Surge Not Enough

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Lady Gators faced a tough opponent in visiting Ava Maria as they were down by as many as 34 points. After the first period the game was close as each team went on a run of their own which ended in the visitors leading 19-12. The second quarter was all Ava Maria as the outscored Pine Manor 27-10 as they pushed their halftime lead to 46-22.

At the break the Gyrenes were led by Lauren Gillingham who finished the half with 12 points as Taylor Lindsey and Annie Artise with 10 points apiece. The Lady Gators were led by Khiyana Isaac who finished the half with 11 points.

The 3rd quarter started out the same way it ended for Ava Maria as they saw their lead swell as they outscored Pine Manor 21-14 pushing their lead to 67-34 as the quarter came to an end. The Lady Gators found themselves down a huge deficit as the final quarter began.

The Lady Gators battled back as they and saw the 30 point Ava Maria lead cut in half but it was just too little too late as the Lady Gators outscored the Gyrenes in the fourth 26-11 but the lead was too much to overcome as Ava Maria won 78-62.

Ava Maria's Gillingham finished with a game high 22 points while filling the stat sheet with 9 rebounds with 5 assists to go along with 4 steals. Lindsey finished with 14 points, Artise with 13 as top reserve Jasmine Bateman netted 12 to round out the Gyrene's scoring.

Pine Manor's Alexis Lee lead the team with 20 points as Issac finished with 16 points shooting a blazing 7-8 from the field finishing with 7 rebounds as well. Sybil Lynch netted 14 as Erica Jones rounded out the scoring finishing with 10. The Loss pushes the Lady Gators to 1-4 on the season as there next game will be December 2nd as they travel to Rivier with tip-off at 7:00 P.M.
