LYNN, Mass. – A strong second half by Pine Manor turned a seven-point game at halftime into a runaway as the Gators dismissed Fisher 83-49 on Saturday afternoon.
Pine Manor extends its winning streak to four as it improves its record to 9-6. Fisher falls to 3-16 with the loss.
Junior Alexis Lee (Akron, Ohio) led all scorers with 22 points. Senior Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) and junior Sybil Lynch (Hoboken, N.J.) were the two other Gators in double figures scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Sophomore Maria Vaughan (Okinawa, Japan) recorded seven assists for the guests.
Fisher was led offensively by sophomore Alexis Akridge (Union, N.J.) and freshman Murphy Carroll (Methuen, Mass.) who scored 12 and 10 points respectively for the hosts.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half. Pine Manor narrowly outshot Fisher 24.4 percent to 21.9 percent and the two teams combined for just three baskets from downtown on 30 attempts.
Things changed for the Gators in the second half as they made their first five field goals out of the break and opened up a 35-15 lead. The visitors shot 52.5 percent from the field in the second half and scored 61 points, including 14 from Lee who is now only 15 points away from the 1000-point plateau.
Lee will look to eclipse the milestone tomorrow when Pine Manor returns to Brunelli Court to host Vermont Tech at 1 p.m.
The Falcons are off until Feb. 5 when they will make the trip to Chestnut Hill for a rematch against the Gators at 7 p.m.
