Eagles Outmatch Gators, Sweep Doubleheader

NASHUA, N.H – First baseman Anastasia Walker (West Springfield, Mass.) and right fielder Natasia Franklin (Windsor, Conn.) each had two hits in game two for the Gators, but Pine Manor was still swept by Daniel Webster on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles took game one 14-0 and claimed the nightcap 13-3.

Daniel Webster closes out its season with a 7-21 record, while Pine Manor drops to 2-20.

Senior Sarah Durocher (Keene, N.H.) went out in style in the final two games of her collegiate career combining to go 3-for-4 at the plate and knock in six runs. She also picked up both wins, including a one-hitter, in the pitcher's circle.

Game 1:

In the opener, DWC plated nine runs in the bottom of the first and three in the second. Julia Bodoni (Tewksbury, Mass.) went 3-for-4 with four RBI including a two-run single in the opening inning. Durocher connected for a two-run double in the first, and Abigail Goslin (Wrentham, Mass.) was 3-for-4 with her triple and a RBI walk in the first.

Durocher one-hit the Gators, striking out eight and walking one. The Gators lone hit didn't come until the fourth inning when Chaniyah Swan (Jersey City, N.J.) broke up the no-hit bid with a single to center. Chardonai Rose (Fairfield, Cal.) took the loss in the circle.

Game 2:

Pine Manor fared better early on in the nightcap. After managing just one hit against Durocher in the opener, the guests got to the senior for nine in game two. Walker and Franklin each had two apiece.

The Gators established a 3-0 lead after the first two innings with Swan and Franklin each collecting RBI-hits in the first and Walker adding another run with a single in the second.

Rose held the Eagles scoreless for the first two innings, but the Daniel Webster offense exploded in the third. They hosts scored 13 runs in the frame, taking advantage of five miscues by the Gators in the field.

That big inning was enough to earn Durocher her second win of the afternoon and hand Rose the loss. Durocher struck out seven in game two.

The Gators will close out the 2015 season tomorrow at home. They will host Wheelock for a doubleheader at the Pine Manor Softball Field starting at 3 p.m.
