NASHUA, N.H. – Junior Ari DeJesus (Providence, R.I.) had her first collegiate multi-hit performance for Pine Manor, but Rivier came away with a sweep of Friday's doubleheader with a pair of shutout victories.
After today's games Pine Manor drops to 0-4 on the season and Rivier improves to 7-11.
Junior Jess Shanahan (Merrimack, N.H.) held the Gators' bats at bay in the first game as she hurled five scoreless innings allowing just two hits and striking out three for the win. Anastasia Walker (West Springfield, Mass.) got the start for the Gators and took the loss.
DeJesus was the only player who was able to solve Shanahan as she singled in both of her at-bats for the only two hits for the Gators.
Offensively first baseman Kathryn Mostone (Pelham, N.H.) led the way for the Raiders as she drove in five runs, including a bases-clearing triple in the third. She was just one of eight Rivier batters to record an RBI in the game.
Freshman Jordan Parece (Pelham, N.H.) got the start for the Raiders in game two and also had a dominant game in the circle. She hurled five scoreless innings, striking out five and allowing just two hits. Walker was in the circle again for the Gators. She went the distance and struck out two.
The two Gators two hits came back-to-back in the second inning as sophomore Michala Clea (Washington D.C.) and Walker came away with a single apiece.
Junior Sam Verney (Goffstown, N.H.) was the offensive star for the Raiders in game two as she collected hits in all three plate appearances and was just a home run shy of the cycle. She also drove in a team leading four runs.
