NEWTON, Mass. – A evenly matched game saw both teams fire 23 shots, but neither team could come up with a goal as Mount Ida College and Pine Manor College played to a scoreless draw in non-conference men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Riley Ford (Guilderland, N.Y.) made nine saves, including three in the second overtime period, and Oscar Estrada made eight stops for the Gators (5-9-2).
One of the best opportunities of the game came in the extra session, when the Mustangs earned a free kick just outside the box, but senior Tyler Grothusen (Ramsey, N.J.) saw his attempt stuffed by the wall of Gators defenders.
Mount Ida had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, and saw good work done up front by freshman Jared Barraso (Central Falls, R.I.), who had four attempts, two of them on target.
The Gators head to Southern Vermont this Sunday for a 1:00 pm game.
Mount Ida (5-9-3) now gets ready for their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quarterfinals game, which will be played on Saturday at 1:00 pm in Standish, Maine, as the #8 seeded Mustangs battle top-seeded Saint Joseph's College.
