Gators Win 2nd Straight with 1-0 Shutout of Mariners

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer fell to Pine Manor College on Sunday afternoon, 1-0 in non-conference action on Ritchie Field.

The Gators took the lead when Eduardo Lechuga crossed a ball in front of the Mariner net, finding Samuel Solano who headed in the ball past Maine Maritime's keeper Marshall Spear (Rockport, Maine) at 28:21.

The Mariners applied heavy pressure throughout the game, outshooting Pine Manor 29-13, but could not put the ball in net. Dalton Moore (Hollis Center, Maine) led the Mariners offensively with seven shots. 

Spear ended the afternoon with four saves in net for the Mariners, Pine Manor's Oscar Estrada stopped all eight shots he faced.

Maine Maritime falls to 4-7-1 on the season and returns to action next Saturday, October 15 at Colby-Sawyer College in a 3:00 p.m., North Atlantic Conference matchup. The Gators improve to 3-6-1 overall.
