QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College men's soccer team notched a 3-1 victory over Pine Manor Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium behind a two-goal effort by Nabil Chamoun.
The Lions leap to 4-3-1 on the year while the Gators slide to 1-5-0 overall with the result.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the 15th minute to claim a 1-0 lead. Andrew Nelson floated a cross from the left wing and Chamoun latched onto the end of the pass to knock in his second goal of the season.
Pine Manor pulled even in the 40th minute, 1-1. Cesar Garcia buried his first tally of the fall as he lofted a free kick into the back of the net from 40 yards away from goal.
The Lions regained a one-goal advantage just moments later in the 42nd minute, 2-1. Jannon Smith hammered home his second marker of the fall. The home team fired five shots in the first frame while the visitors attempted nine.
For the second time in the last three games the Gators outshot their opponent but took the loss. Pine Manor had an 18-8 advantage in shots. Garcia and Jahvar Gayle led the team with two shots on goal.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene resumes league play with a road tilt at the University of New England September 24. Pine Manor will host Emmanuel College on Wednesday at 3:30PM.
