Gators Let One Slip Away in 2-0 Setback to UMF

Chestnut Hill, MA- The Pine Manor soccer team let one get away today as they fell at home 2-0 despite outplaying Maine-Farmington much of the day and out shooting them 18-5.

Keeper Matt Wilson saw five shots in the first half for the visitors and kept his team in the game all day; meanwhile Farmington didn't register a shot on goal until the second half.

The Gators continued the attack in the second half, but couldn't get one behind Wilson. The Jake Heimlich took over scoring twice three minutes apart, first in the 53rd minute off a helper from Tristan Price and then three minutes later Heimlich struck again, this time taking it upon himself.

Farmington was the much more physical team as well amassing 16 fouls and playing the last four plus minutes down a man after Price was sent off for his second yellow card of the half.

Farmington was able to hold on for the victory and Wilson moved to 2-1 on the season collecting eight saves in the shutout of the Gators. Oscar Estrada had one save on the day for the Gators.

Jose Corrales was the only Gator to record multiple shots on goal as he put a pair on Wilson.

Pine Manor is 1-2 after the defeat and Farmington improves to 2-1. Pine Manor will look to rebound Wednesday as they are in the middle of a run of home games. The will play Suffolk at 3:30pm.
