Oscar Estrada with 6 saves in 2-1 loss to Newbury

Facing local rival Newbury College, the Pine Manor College men's team dropped a derby result in the first overtime, 2-1.

Dominated for large stretches of the match, the Gators were able to keep the game scoreless until the 77th minute thanks to another stout performance from goalkeeper Oscar Estrada (North Port, FL), who finished with six saves.

The back-line was under constant pressure with Newbury attempting nine corners and 17 overall shots. The ninth corner for Newbury would finally break the deadlock as the ball was cleared off the line, but after a series of headers inside the six-yard box Emmett Dixon was able flick a header into the near-side netting for his fourth goal of the season, 1-0.

The Gators responded well despite trailing late in the match, and after a free kick from Shaquille Sailsman (Hartford, CT) was headed out to the top of the box, Hakeem Duncan (Miramar, FL) roofed a volley to tie the game with just five minutes remaining, 1-1.

The Nighthawks would end the match early in overtime. After a foul in the box just 40 seconds into the first overtime, Kevin Teixeira stepped up confidently to the penalty kick spot, and drilled his shot just off center to the right to end the game, 2-1.
